March Iron Man Tournament: handicap division (Winner: veinarde)

Welcome to the 9th KGS Iron Man tournament! It is called an Iron Man tournament because endurance is key to doing well in this tournament. There will be 20 rounds spread over 5 days, with a new round starting every six hours. You can skip up to 15 rounds, so even if you can only play one round per day, you can still participate in this tournament! But of course, playing in more rounds than the minimum of 5 will give you a better final position - as long as you manage to win the extra rounds that you play in!

As usual, a limited number (100 to open division, none to the handicap one) of non-KGS Plus members are allowed. Make sure to tell your friends about this so they can register in time!

To choose which rounds you sit out, click on the link to the right where you sign up for byes. If you are on the server when a round starts, and you haven't requested a bye, then you must play in the round or take a loss.

The handicap division is an handicap tournament for players 1d or weaker. The open division is open to all the ratings. The time settings are 45 minutes plus byo yomi (5 periods of 30 seconds).

IMPORTANT: you are allowed to attend only one of the two divisions and are expected to use your strongest account on KGS. Contact the user "glue" if your KGS Plus account is not your strongest account.

Prizes

  1. The winner of the division will get a teaching game with a teacher from the AyGoSchool. People who have previously won the AyGoSchool teaching game twice are not eligible for the teaching game.
  2. The runner-up of the division will get a $18 gift certificate from Kiseido.
  3. The 2 players with the most wins will each receive a $18 gift certificate from Kiseido. There are only 2 of these prizes total for the tournament, not 2 per division. The winners of the former prizes will not be counted here.
  4. All the above players will also get 1 month of free KGS Plus
  5. The 10 players who were in the most games will each get 1 week of KGS Plus. Again, 10 will be handed out over the whole tournament. Players who already won a prize in the tournament will not be counted here.

If needed, the score, sos and sodos will be used as tiebreakers.
